In a collaborative effort to enhance academic publishing skills, a successful academic publishing workshop was recently conducted at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This initiative aimed to equip researchers with essential insights and knowledge in the ever-evolving landscape of academic publishing.

The event opened with a welcoming address from Prof. Dr. Chow Ming Cheung, who emphasized the significance of the training session for students aspiring to elevate their research literacy. He introduced the keynote speakers and outlined the day's agenda, highlighting the opportunity for attendees to gain critical expertise in publishing.

The first presentation featured Ms. Maud Yin, Managing Editor of the journal Molecules (ISSN: 1420-3049), who provided a comprehensive overview of MDPI and its impact on the academic community. She also shared valuable statistics and insights into the history and various outreach activities of Molecules, guiding participants through the editorial process from submission to publication.

Following this, Mr. Kurtis Jackson, Head of Author Services of MDPI, discussed the advantages of open access publishing, shedding light on its importance for modern academics. His insights helped attendees understand how open access can enhance their research visibility and impact.

Dr. Krit Inthajak, Journal Relations Specialist, then focused on improving participants’ academic writing skills. He introduced the basic structure of a journal article and provided practical examples and strategies to make manuscripts more compelling and suitable for publication.

The session was met with positive feedback from participants, many of whom praised the organizers for the informative and well-structured program. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the valuable insights gained and the practical skills learned, which they believe will significantly enhance their publishing potential.
