Journal of Clinical Medicine | Review of the Cooperation with the Italian Society of Thoracic Endoscopy (SIET)

Background and Overview of the Cooperation

Our cooperation with SIET (Italian Society of Thoracic Endoscopy) began in September 2023. Since then, we have been committed to promoting the establishment of topics in the fields related to our collaboration, initiating Special Issues, enriching the cooperation potential in this area, and advancing together. Our cooperation encompasses various modalities, such as providing discounted article processing charges (APCs) to all SIET members when submitting articles to the Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN: 2077-0383), participating in offline meetings, offering free media support, and sponsoring conferences. We will maintain a long-term cooperation and are currently exploring new collaboration models.

New Collaboration for the XXII SIET National Congress

Recently, SIET organized the XXII SIET National Congress. We actively promoted it through the conference section of our journal and social media accounts. Additionally, we sponsored the JCM Junior Competition to express our support. The XXII SIET National Congress was held in Florence from 17 to 19 October 2024 (https://www.sietfirenze2024.it/). The central aim of this congress was to skillfully combine the surgical techniques of Italian institutions with the latest emerging technologies, with the intention of inspiring and training young colleagues. The main participants included not only thoracic surgeons but also endoscopists, pulmonologists, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and anesthesiologists. Moreover, fifth- and sixth-year students of internal and surgical specialties also actively participated.

The JCM Junior Competition was a group competition, in which four teams competed on questions related to the theme of the congress. Each member of the winning team received 200 euros, with a total prize money of 800 euros. The conference chair, Prof. Mohsin Ibrahim, presented the awards. We encourage the researchers who attended the conference to submit their research results to our journal. We have 35 Sections (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/jcm/sections) available for them to choose from. The photos of the key members of the society and the winning team of the JCM Junior Competition are below.

Meeting with SIET Members and Future Prospects

Taking the opportunity to further our cooperation during this conference, we had the honor of visiting four SIET association members: Dr. Federico Raveglia, Dr. Paolo Scanagatta, Prof. Mohsen Ibrahim and Prof. Lorenzo Corbetta. The main purpose of this visit was to discuss current cooperation and look ahead to future collaborations. They were interested in using other services provided by JCM, especially the SciForum platform, which would make organizing conferences and webinars much easier for them.

Dr. Raveglia has accepted our review invitations on multiple occasions, laying a solid foundation for cooperation. We are extremely grateful for his efforts in ensuring the quality of journal manuscripts.

Dr. Scanagatta participated in the establishment of a Special Issue this year and served as a Guest Editor. He was highly satisfied with the editing process, which was a pleasant collaboration. We look forward to maintaining a continuous and fruitful partnership with him and publishing more high-quality manuscripts. Although Prof. Corbetta had not cooperated with us before and was unaware of the details of our partnership with SIET, he showed particular interest. He indicated that he would consider collaborating with us, and he is also a member of other associations. This presents new opportunities for potential partnerships and further development. This visit was an excellent opportunity for mutual understanding and further confirmation of new partnership models and content.

We express our sincere gratitude for our partnership with SIET so far and look forward to an even more prosperous future. We anticipate that the journal and the organization will continue to strengthen their cooperation in various aspects. We expect to explore more topics, encourage more scholars to contribute their research, and enhance the influence and academic value of both sides.
