Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Companies may play a pivotal role in decarbonization and tackling climate change concerns. The Paris Agreement represents an opportunity for countries and businesses to tackle the threat of climate change. Strategies, actions, and innovation at the business level could be crucial to reduce carbon emissions. Despite increasing research attention on business and the transition to a low-carbon economy, the main challenges and opportunities the business sector faces in the decarbonization path have not been extensively investigated.

This Special Issue, titled "Challenges and Opportunities of Sustainable Low-Carbon Economy: A Business Perspective", aims to collect scientific contributions in the area of climate change and decarbonization by looking at the role businesses may play. It aims to develop new knowledge and reach a broad audience of academic researchers, practitioners, and policymakers with novel research into business and sustainability.

Specifically, this Special Issue aims to shed light on the different aspects that may facilitate the adoption of sustainable strategies related to climate change and decarbonization, as also on the main factors that hinder companies and their supply chains in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

This Special Issue welcomes original research articles and reviews, top-quality theoretical and empirical papers, case studies, and policy or practitioner-oriented contributions. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Drivers and barriers of businesses in the low-carbon transition;
  • Business opportunities of the decarbonization;
  • Decarbonization and business performance;
  • Low-carbon transition opportunities and challenges linked to supply chains;
  • Collaboration and network opportunities for the low-carbon transition;
  • Innovation and climate change in businesses;
  • Digitalization and decarbonization;
  • Challenges and opportunities of climate disclosure;
  • Greenwashing and carbon disclosure;
  • Business models for decarbonization;
  • Climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies at the business level;
  • Gender diversity and climate change;
  • Other topics related to businesses, climate change, and decarbonization.

I look forward to receiving your contributions.
