Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Nowadays, the energy demand is increasing rapidly worldwide, and the economic, financial, and environmental challenges facing the energy industry are more severe than ever before. Oil and gas continue to be the main energy sources in the world for a long time to come. However, as a typical traditional industry, oil and gas transportation and storage are characterized by high energy consumption, complex processes, long industrial chains, and complex application scenarios. In this case, the transportation and storage of oil and gas urgently require revolutionary change to reach a balance between rapid economic growth and sustainability. Low carbonization and intellectualization have become new trend developmental trends. The green and intelligent transition of oil and gas transportation and storage represents a future research hotspot for sustainable energy supply. This Special Issue is intended as the state-of-the-art resource for researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers interested in studying the sustainability of oil and gas transportation and storage. Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to:

  • Overview of oil and gas low-carbon and intelligent technologies;
  • Carbon management solution for oil and gas transportation and storage;
  • Sustainable upgrading design of oil and gas infrastructure;
  • Efficient operation of oil and gas infrastructure;
  • Deepening the reform of oil and gas industry marketization;
  • Optimization of oil and gas multimodal transportation;
  • Analysis on the possibility of renewable energy access to oil and gas facilities;
  • Complementarity and integration of oil and gas and renewable energy systems;
  • Big Data of oil and gas transportation and storage industry;
  • Artificial intelligence management for oil and gas transportation and storage.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
