Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The aim of this Research Topic is to create a platform and global forum for authors to explore, comment, analyze and discuss current and innovative ideas, characteristics, models, practices and theories that organizations use/prescribe to identify, measure, monitor, forecast, and manage risk and internal controls in the face of disruptions such as the increased use of technology, globalization, change in regulations, environmental change, demographic changes and characteristics.

Contributions should relate to current or innovative practices, characteristics, tools, techniques and instruments used by the internal controllers such as compliance officers, risk managers, regulators, auditors, etc. to manage identified exposures. The aim is to address the relationship between theory and practice by exploring trends, paradigms and perspectives, including the responsibilities, ethical issues, internal controller characteristics, social, environmental and economic aspects of contemporary issues in internal controls, related managerial performance and governance. The objective is to explore new boundaries for research by seeking to identify innovative knowledge and practice through the promotion of a dialogue between academics and practitioners.

Since internal controls can be both qualitative and quantitative, the scope is open to both approaches or a mixed approach applying both. The goal of this special issue is to advance the knowledge and understanding of the practice of internal controls through the publication of high-quality papers that are relevant to researchers and practitioners. We also welcome comments, case studies and discussions on published research articles/books and chapters, as well as discussions on current topics.
