Abstract
The intersections of work, family, and life relations are a fundamental
component of gender research and the pursuit of the United Nations’ Social
Development Goal 5: Gender Equality. This chapter takes a social sustainability
approach to exploring the diversity of these realities for men, women and further
genders worldwide. Both societal and policy-focused solutions are necessary to
correct the historical inequalities in gendered care and unpaid labor.
