Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In this Special Issue of Symmetry we want to present research articles and review articles on fundamental cosmological topics covering classical cosmology, quantum cosmology, as well as confrontations of theoretical models with observations.

The most simple universe models are homogeneous and isotropic, presumably reflecting properties of our universe on a scale larger than a billion light years. Never the less there has appeared signs in the Planck observations of the temperature fluctuations of the cosmic microwave background radiation that there may exist a cosmic anisotropy even on the largest scales. Possibly, one of the anisotropic Bianchi-type universe models, may represent the properties of the universe in a more realistic way than the isotropic and homogeneous universe.

There have also been efforts to “explain away” the large scale dark energy by considering inhomogeneous universe models. At the present time, those models are not favored by observations, but better models may be constructed.

We also invite researchers to contribute with new research on the early inflationary era. Warm inflation is more realistic than cold including the possibility of a transition from dark energy to radiation, which is not considered in the usual cold inflationary universe models. In addition, warm inflation seems to come better out of the confrontation with observations than cold inflation.

Furthermore it would be ideal to present contributions shedding light on how in the inflationary era started.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
