Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The study of natural products and phytochemicals for sustainability constitutes an interdisciplinary field that investigates the potential of compounds derived from plants and other natural sources to address pressing challenges associated with environmental conservation, human health, and economic sustainability. This research area includes a diverse array of natural products with a wide spectrum of interesting biological activities. These involve secondary metabolites generated by a multiplicity of plants, marine organisms, and microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria. Phytochemicals, in particular, are bioactive compounds found in plants that assume a central role in various ecological and physiological processes.

Throughout history, humans have heavily depended on natural products for various facets of their lives. However, the recent surge of interest in natural products and phytochemicals is powered by their profound implications for biodiversity, healthcare, agriculture, and industry. Moreover, this growing enthusiasm is reinforced by an imperative need to discover eco-friendly, renewable alternatives to address challenges within these domains.

In this context, our Special Issue aims to explore the multifaceted realm of natural products and phytochemicals within the framework of sustainable practices. To this end, we cordially invite original research articles or reviews that shed light on innovative studies, best practices, and the most recent advancements in this field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
