Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

An increasing number of articles are showing how plant volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be related to the physiological and psychological health of people, following their inhalation. This has been confirmed both when a mild physical activity is engaged with in combination with nature, such as a walk in the forest (forest bathing) or tai chi in the park in the morning, and when a path is structured that connects nature and mental health, as in the therapeutic activities of the healing gardens.

This Special Issue of Plants aims to collect the most up-to-date research on these topics which, also thanks to the pandemic, are rediscovering and demonstrating how immersion in nature is beneficial for humans from multiple points of view, while its lack is detrimental. We hope to collect many studies from leading researchers working in fields different but united by the common interest of laying the foundations of a scientific and social awareness aimed at better harmony and ethics with which man places himself in the world.
