Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

By following the recent trends in implantology, esthetic outcomes need to be considered to be as crucial as the prognosis, especially in high-demand areas. In order to reach such a challenging goal, a series of procedures are presently available to clinicians. In fact, after tooth extraction, the socket-preservation technique may provide a contrast to horizontal bone resorption. After a proper healing period of six months, an implant could be placed with an orientation that is able to provide for a screw-retained restoration, and the peri-implant buccal hard and soft tissues will be enough. Enough for both a stable buccal hard tissues amount, and a well integrated emergence profile if compared to that of the adjacent teeth. If the emergence profile is not yet satisfying, a soft tissue graft may be used to increase buccal aspect convexity at the time of surgical implant re-entry. If the aforementioned steps are properly managed, a natural shape and prosthetic emergence of the implant-supported restoration will be provided.
