Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Computational intelligence offers intelligent solutions, based on concepts and methods of artificial intelligence, which are capable of efficiently solving any type of complex problem defined by practical or formal criteria, and can be a source of inspiration for innovative and productive applications in cybersecurity. The present chapter introduces computational intelligence concepts, details the architecture and their main features, and emphasizes the importance of computational intelligence methods in ensuring cybersecurity. Various security domains such as steganography, cryptography, cloud security, and information security show areas where computational intelligence plays a very important role. The chapter also presents an overview of recent works carried out in the application of computational intelligence in cybersecurity. The growth of the internet and the extensive reliance on information technology have made the protection of information a real necessity that is becoming more and more present in our daily lives. Because organizations found themselves in the situation of being more complex and dynamic, new demands have emerged in order to protect them against a large number of threats and vulnerabilities. The traditional security systems that are based, especially, on well-defined rules show their limits when faced with these new challenges. In this context, new security solutions, able to respond automatically, adaptively, and intelligently to different malicious events, have emerged.

This Special Issue explores the latest advancements and applications of computational techniques for cybersecurity applications. It invites researchers, academicians, and industry experts to contribute original research articles, reviews, and case studies in the field.

Please note that all submitted papers must be within the general scope of Computation.

The research areas covered for this Special Issue are as follows:

  • Computational Intelligence for Cybersecurity;
  • Challenges in Cybersecurity and New Security Solutions;
  • Intrusion Detection Systems;
  • Malware Detection Techniques;
  • Threat Intelligence;
  • Data Privacy Concerns in Cloud Computing;
  • Adversarial Attacks and Defense Strategies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Computation is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
