Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Advances in science and technology are helping today’s forensic experts unlock unsolved mysteries and solve crimes. Forensic discoveries and innovative tools are facilitating the analysis and precise identification of biological materials limited in quantity and quality, pre- and postmortem. Sources of materials for testing include humans, other animals, insects, microorganisms and plants. Examples of biologic materials include hair, semen, saliva, teeth, bones, blood, bodily fluids, and other cell components or products. New technologies have not only accelerated progress in the field of DNA profiling and identification, but have redefined and improved methods for all types of evidence acquisition, testing, analysis, and preservation. This special edition is devoted to showcasing the latest cutting-edge discoveries related to cellular and molecular biology impacting the field of forensics today.
