Engineering
Summary

This Reprint presents eleven contributions related to the design process for Additive Manufacturing (AM), gathered during the 2024–2025 period from experts in engineering and science from Germany, the USA, Hungary, Italy, China, Indonesia, Poland, and Ireland. It includes four articles that focus on traditional CAD modeling, four that explore Reverse Engineering (RE) design, and two that analyze the optimization processes involved in 3D printer construction and the materials used. Additionally, this Reprint contains a review that provides information about 4D printing. The articles presented here discuss essential aspects of AM. They emphasize that the AM process, which involves layer-by-layer material deposition, requires careful optimization during both the design and manufacturing stages to achieve the desired properties in the final model, such as strength, accuracy, and surface quality.
