2011 Desautels Business Conference on Sustainability
Our generation is facing a moral imperative – there is an urgency to turn the traditional business practices of the past in a more sustainable direction for the future. This year’s conference provides a forum to learn, share, connect, innovate, and accelerate the movement towards environmentally and socially responsible business practices.
We realize that progress towards sustainability requires more than just a drastic change in infrastructure, policy, or technology. For radical change to be sustained, it requires a paradigm shift. There must be collective momentum and an intrinsic commitment to the people and places our actions affect.
Every one of us has the capacity to be a leader and to provoke change within our communities, and sometimes all it takes is one moment or one event to truly move someone from reflection into action. We believe DBCS 2010 can be that event.
This year’s conference has been designed to act as yet another catalyst towards change. It will spark the interest of those who are not familiar with issues of sustainability, inspire and challenge experts in the field, and create meaningful relationships that will continue past those three incredible days. By providing both the knowledge and tacit skills necessary to make a difference, we strive to foster within each participant a feeling of optimism, empowerment, and the confidence to act as a leader for positive change.
