Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Electromagnetic sensors operating over the radio-frequency and microwave spectra (kHz to GHz) are an advantageous and widely used set of technologies for non-invasive and non-ionising measurement. They have found broad appeal across a myriad of disciplines and applications—from low-frequency eddy-current sensors for industrial nondestructive testing to ultrawideband radar systems for uncovering buried or hidden objects.

This Special Issue will focus on the research, design and use of electromagnetic sensors and instrumentation that specifically take advantage of multifrequency or wideband approaches—that is, by using information provided by different parts of the spectrum to gain new insights and develop new techniques that fuel the next generation of inspection, detection and measurement systems.

To that end, we invite original contributions from academia and industry of research articles and reviews papers that meet the following broad themes:

  • Radio frequency and/or microwave spectroscopy
  • Multifrequency magnetic, induction and eddy-current sensors
  • Multiband and multimodal sensors
  • Electromagnetic tomography
  • Dielectric and impedance spectroscopy
  • Ultrawideband radar
  • New applications for multifrequency systems
  • Data analytic, signal processing and sensor fusion
  • Sensor and instrumentation analysis and design

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
