Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Asphalt pavement is the main surface structure of high-grade roads. The demand for asphalt, aggregates, and other building materials for asphalt pavement construction and maintenance is huge. Meanwhile, diseases of asphalt pavement occur frequently due to the weakened mechanical properties and adverse weather conditions of asphalt materials. With the goal of promoting environmental awareness, solid waste materials are generally used in asphalt pavement to improve mechanical properties and decrease environmental hazards. Thus, as resources become increasingly tight, the development, design, and resource utilization of asphalt pavement-related materials become increasingly important.

Novel techniques, such as the development and modification of new asphalt materials and the characterization of materials and structures, are studied all over the world. Thus, this Special Issue, entitled “Design and Resource Utilization of Asphalt Materials,” aims to frame a comprehensive discussion and share data on the design and resource utilization of asphalt binders.

This Special Issue focuses on asphalt materials and pavement structures. Particular topics of interest for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • New modification technology for asphalt binders;
  • Aging and recycling of asphalt binders;
  • Adhesion and moisture damage of asphalt surfaces;
  • Application of solid waste to asphalt pavement;
  • Application of reclaimed rubber and plastic materials in asphalt binders;
  • Functional asphalt materials;
  • Warm and cold mix asphalt materials;
  • Smart pavement materials;
  • Design of smart roads;
  • Performance evaluation and prediction.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
