Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Olfactory dysfunction (OD) affects a large proportion of the general population, and its incidence is increasing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. OD has a significant impact on the quality of life of these patients, with negative effects on nutrition, social function and mental health. A large body of literature on the application of effective treatments for OD currently exists; however, the results of these studies remain non-optimal.

We are pleased to invite you to submit a manuscript to this Special Issue entitled “Clinical Treatment in Anosmia”, which aims to describe all the available treatment options for this pathology, including medications, olfactory training and various novel therapies. The insertion of biologics into sinonasal disease management, olfactory training modifications and platelet-rich plasma injections are all examples of recent advances in the field; these are accompanied by studies concerning future therapeutic options such as olfactory implants, stem cell therapies and gene therapy. It is evident that the whole scientific field of OD treatment has garnered significant research interest.

This Special Issue aims to focus on these efforts in order to present recent clinical and experimental research on anosmia treatment worldwide.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. The scope of this Special Issue includes the following: studies on local and systemic medications, olfactory training, novel therapies, future options, and patient perspectives.

We are looking forward to receiving your contributions.
