Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Colon cancer represents a significant medical and surgical challenge within the landscape of oncological diseases. With its prevalence on a steady rise and a profound impact on global health, colon cancer necessitates a multidisciplinary approach focused on early diagnosis, accurate staging, and optimal surgical treatment.

Early diagnosis plays a crucial role in enhancing colon cancer patients' survival prospects. The utilization of advanced methodologies, such as colonoscopy and cutting-edge imaging techniques, enables the timely detection of suspicious lesions and the characterization of neoplasms in terms of size and location.

Accurate staging is essential in determining the extent of the disease and guiding therapeutic decisions. Integrating data from radiological examinations, computerized tomography scans, magnetic resonance imaging, and biological markers contributes to defining each patient's most appropriate treatment strategy.

In the realm of surgical treatment, the minimally invasive approach is gaining ground due to its benefits in terms of postoperative recovery and quality of life. Laparoscopic and robotic techniques enable the precise removal of tumors while preserving intestinal functionality and reducing associated complications.

This Special Issue of the journal aims to comprehensively explore the latest developments in the surgical treatment of colon cancer. Through a critical analysis of scientific evidence and the clinical expertise of researchers and specialists, we aspire to contribute to the ongoing progress in managing this complex oncological condition.
