Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The development of novel technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data, and their application in medicine will play a role in transforming the future of healthcare. During recent decades, these technologies have been implemented in different healthcare areas of expertise, from disease diagnosis and outcome prediction to treatment improvement and public health, helping clinicians to deliver safe and effective patient care, and playing a key role in the development of precision medicine. The COVID-19 pandemic has further pushed healthcare professionals to find valuable help in technology in order to improve and optimize the services provided. However, many of these new tools continue to be used and further optimized in perioperative medicine as well. In fact, new technologies are demonstrating excellent results in improving surgical patients’ paths.

This Special Issue aims to advance the existing scientific literature to give the complete picture of novel devices and information technology tools that have been useful since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of improving the healthcare system, especially in perioperative medicine.

Original research articles and reviews are welcome. All professionals involved in COVID-19 pandemic and perioperative care are encouraged to submit manuscripts related to the use of new technologies to optimize patient and resource management.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
