Aims

Acting in accordance with the overall aims of the Journal, the Section on Perioperative Care will publish original empirical and theoretical work relating to all aspects of the perioperative care process. All published work must meet the ethical and peer-review standards set by the Journal and shall be submitted for peer review prior to acceptance by the editors for this section. All submissions shall be submitted to THENTICATE for a review prior to publication.

Scope

This section shall cover all topics relevant to the underlying science and practices of Perioperative Medicine, including preoperative risk assessment and preparation for surgical or other endoscopic or invasive procedures, intraprocedural monitoring, sedation, anesthesia and resuscitation, and postoperative pain and critical care management of the surgical patient. Peer review shall be conducted by an appropriate multispecialty panel for all papers submitted. This panel may include surgeons, internists, anesthesiologists, imaging specialists, basic scientists, and others, as necessitated by the particular article presented for consideration.
