Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The Guest Editors are inviting submissions to a Special Issue of Energies on the “Optimization of Propulsion in Transport Means”. The optimization of propulsion systems is extremely important to meet the increasing demands of their users. Many of these requirements have remained unchanged for years, but there are also new ones. The pursuit of the lowest possible production costs and operating costs of transport means is well known to all their producers and users. Currently, there is also great awareness of the need to protect the environment, which is reflected in new expectations in this regard. The trend of ensuring the high performance of propulsion units with the increasingly advanced aim of reducing the weight of the main components of the propulsion system also seems to be unchanged.

This Special Issue will present the current trends in the design of power transmission systems for various means of transport, from automotive vehicles to aircraft. It is not the will of the editors to narrow down the research topics of the articles, but to present a wide spectrum of possibilities and examples of actions taken to develop efficient and ecological propulsion systems for means of transport, which also meet several other, no less important, conditions.

The combination of well-known and new, often contradictory, criteria for optimizing the design of propulsion systems makes it necessary for designers to intensify their research and continuously expand their engineering knowledge in various areas. However, they are being helped by new scientific achievements, optimization techniques, advanced technologies, and increasing research opportunities. The results of the scientific research presented in this Special Issue will also be helpful in this respect.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
