Study on Durability of Building Structure in Civil Engineering
This special issue belongs to the section "Building Structures".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The study of material durability is crucial in civil engineering as it directly impacts the safety, sustainability, and economic viability of infrastructure projects. Over time, materials used in construction are subjected to various environmental and operational stresses, leading to degradation and potential failure. Therefore, understanding the durability of materials, developing effective durability assessment methods, and exploring innovative techniques to improve material performance are essential for ensuring the long-term success of civil engineering projects. This Special Issue is dedicated to exploring the critical topic of material durability in civil engineering.
In this Special Issue, we invite contributions that address various aspects of material durability in civil engineering. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Experimental and analytical studies on the durability of traditional and emerging construction materials;
- Development and evaluation of new durability assessment techniques and standards;
- Investigation of the impact of environmental factors on material durability;
- Case studies and practical applications of durability improvement methods in real-world projects;
- Innovative materials and technologies for enhancing material durability and extending infrastructure lifespan.
We welcome both theoretical and empirical studies that contribute to a deeper understanding of material durability and its practical implications.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Buildings is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
