8–10 November 2018, Braunschweig, Germany
Annual Meeting of the German Society for Biomaterials

We are delighted to invite you to the annual conference of the DGBM e.V. in Braunschweig. The conference will take place from 8 – 10 November at the „Forum“ of the Helmholtz-Center for Infection Research.

In the tradition of the DGBM being a forum for trans-disciplinary research, we once again would like to welcome a mix of scientists from various disciplines together with clinicians and company representatives with an interest in the development and application of biomaterials. We hope that the meeting will provide an exciting venue to initiate new ideas and collaborations. The DGBM highly values young scientists experience and we envisage this meeting will also serve as a platform to pave the way for the next generation of biomaterials researchers.

We will cover all aspects of biomaterials research with a special emphasis on cell-material-interactions and biocompatibility of the materials, implants for tissue transition, clinical applications and translation.

Implants and other biomaterials brought into contact with body tissue bear the general risk of a formation of bacterial biofilms and implant-associated infections, which can result in a loss of the implant function and severe health problems for the patient. Biofilms and implant-associated infections therefore will be a main topic of the DGBM 2018.

A preceding workshop covers different aspects of a biomaterial development. The contributions from chemistry, engineering, biology, pharmacy and medicine to this development will be exemplified by a high functional implant, which can be used for insitu tissue engineering.

We very much look forward to welcome you to Braunschweig.
