At MDPI Books, we publish our books as Gold OA, with no embargo period, as opposed to Green OA, a popular choice by other publishers. With Gold OA, the final published versions of articles are permanently and freely available worldwide under an open access license (Creative Commons license) immediately upon publication by the publisher. Gold OA operates without any pay- or timewall for the reader. Publications are usually paid for by authors/editors, their institutions, or funds that support open access publications. Open access publication is supported by the authors' institutes or research funding agencies by payment of a comparatively low processing charge (BPC/CPC) for accepted manuscripts.
