This is a Reprint of the Special Issue Bioengineering of the Motor System that was published in

Engineering
Summary

This Special Issue presents a series of original articles that provide an overview of researchers’ current interests in the fields of movement biomechanics, motor control, and new technologies and methods for analyzing human motor behaviour. As such, it could be of interest to bioengineers, physiologists, motor rehabilitators, and orthopaedists. The content includes examples of methods for exploiting data from movement analysis systems, applications of virtual reality and exoskeletons, musculoskeletal modelling, the use of electromyography and electrical stimulation to recover motor function, and the analysis of muscle synergies and patterns of movement. In addition to illustrating the state of the art in this area, this Special Issue shows possible developments that may improve the analysis and treatment of movement disorders.
