Summary

Despite significant progress in understanding their pathophysiology and ongoing efforts to develop effective treatments, neurodegenerative disorders (NDDs) remain incurable and continue to impose an increasing global health burden. This reprint showcases recent advancements in NDD research, emphasizing the urgent need for continued investigation into their complex mechanisms, diagnostic challenges, and emerging therapeutic strategies. Contributions to this Special Issue will reflect a multidimensional approach, encompassing experimental and clinical studies, bioinformatics, biomarker discovery, and explorations of immune and hormonal regulation. Collectively, they provide novel insights into both common (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS) and rare (e.g., Skogholt’s disease) NDDs, supporting progress in early diagnosis, targeted interventions, and, ultimately, improved patient outcomes. This collection underscores the critical importance of integrating diverse methodologies and interdisciplinary perspectives to advance our understanding and guide the development of effective solutions in the field of neurodegenerative disease research.
