Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue aims to explore the sustainable management of concentrated waste streams generated by membrane-based water treatment processes and the advancements in membrane technologies for efficient waste stream treatment. We invite researchers and professionals to submit papers covering various aspects related to the environmental implications of concentrate disposal and the development of membrane-based solutions for effective waste stream treatment. Topics of interest include the analysis of potential environmental impacts, established and alternative management practices, knowledge gaps, emerging trends, and advancements in membrane-based wastewater treatment technologies and nutrient recovery technologies.

Authors are encouraged to delve into a detailed examination of membrane-based wastewater treatment technologies, including, but not limited to, metal ion recovery, and explore the applications and future potential of these technologies. The selected papers will contribute to bridging knowledge gaps, enhancing the understanding of associated risks, and proposing innovative solutions for sustainable waste stream treatment. Ultimately, this Special Issue aims to facilitate the development of economically viable and environmentally friendly practices that can be applied on a global scale.

We invite experts, researchers, and professionals from academia, industry, and government agencies to submit their original research articles, case studies, and review papers to this important Special Issue. By joining forces, we can advance the field of membrane technologies for waste stream treatment and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Membranes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
