Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Thermal energy storage (TES) and phase change materials (PCMs) play a pivotal role in various applications, from renewable energy systems to HVAC technology and beyond. Recent advancements in materials science, engineering, and sustainable energy have led to exciting developments in this field. This Special Issue in Advances in Thermal and Energy Science aims to provide an open-access platform exclusively dedicated to the latest breakthroughs in thermal energy storage and phase change materials. This Special Issue is designed to foster collaboration and knowledge dissemination among scientists, engineers, and researchers from around the world.

We welcome contributions encompassing a wide range of topics within the scope of this Special Issue, including but not limited to the following:

  1. Innovative PCM materials and formulations;
  2. Advanced thermal energy storage systems;
  3. PCM-enhanced applications in renewable energy;
  4. Numerical modeling and simulation of PCM behavior;
  5. Heat transfer and thermal performance analysis of PCM-based systems;
  6. Sustainable and environmentally friendly thermal storage solutions;
  7. Integration of PCMs in building and HVAC technologies for flexibility in shedding and shifting building loads and improved thermal comfort of occupants;
  8. Application of thermal energy systems in other heating and cooling systems;
  9. Innovative control strategies for thermal energy storage and phase change materials;
  10. Improvements in the temporal and spatial control of heat flows to optimize storage capacity use and reduce overall system costs.

We invite scientists, researchers, and scholars to submit their pioneering research articles to this Special Issue. In addition to original research papers, we encourage the submission of state-of-the-art reviews and comprehensive research surveys on pertinent subjects.

This Special Issue promises to be a valuable resource for anyone interested in staying at the forefront of thermal energy storage and phase change materials research, with a particular focus on innovative control strategies. Together, let us shape the future of sustainable energy and thermal management.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
