Summary
Global population growth and climate change are heightening concerns about food security and the resilience of agricultural systems. Agriculture must produce sufficient, safe, and nutritious food while adapting to changing environmental conditions, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and protecting biodiversity. Addressing these challenges requires the development and adoption of sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices supported by new scientific knowledge and innovation. Because agriculture is complex and diverse, improvements are needed across crop production, animal agriculture, farm management, environmental stewardship, and the application of emerging technologies. Sustainable intensification depends on integrating knowledge from multiple disciplines, including soil health, biodiversity conservation, circular bioeconomy, environmental protection, information technology, and digital agriculture. Beyond food production, agriculture also contributes to renewable energy through bioenergy and plays an important role in achieving carbon neutrality. At the same time, expanding the use of renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower, and tidal energy, can improve the sustainability and resilience of agricultural systems while supporting broader economic and environmental goals.
