Summary
This is a Reprint of the Special Issue “Design and Experimental Activity of Testing Machines and Mechanical Test Rigs”, published in the journal Machines (MDPI). The focus of this Special Issue is the development and design of dedicated mechanical testing equipment, which represents a crucial step in the validation and characterization of components and materials employed in advanced engineering applications. The realization of these testing devices often involves the complete conception, design, integration, and commissioning of custom test rigs, combining mechanical, electronic, sensing, and control subsystems. Such developments are typically challenging from both technical and economic perspectives and require multidisciplinary expertise to achieve the desired performance, reliability, and measurement accuracy. A total of ten papers were collected in this Special Issue, covering a broad range of mechanical engineering topics, including medical devices, drill pipe testing, vibration-induced bolt loosening, and several other relevant and innovative research subjects.
