Summary
HealthScape Intersections of Health Environment and GIScience and Technology brings together current research at the intersection of health, environment, and geospatial science. This Reprint highlights how GIScience, geospatial technologies, artificial intelligence, and machine learning are being used to better understand the complex relationships among physical, socioeconomic, and virtual environmental factors and health outcomes.
The contributions in this Reprint demonstrate the growing role of geospatial thinking in population health, public health, global health, environmental exposure assessment, healthcare accessibility, health equity, and climate-related vulnerability. Collectively, these studies show how spatial analysis, modelling, data-driven methods, and decision support tools can improve the measurement, interpretation, and communication of health and environmental challenges. This Reprint provides a timely overview of emerging GIScience and GeoAI approaches for advancing health research, informing policy, and supporting more equitable and sustainable environments.
