New Open Access Book: Rewriting the Climate Agenda
MDPI Books has published Rewriting the Climate Agenda: From Failed Policies to Transformative Action, an Open Access volume edited by Meltem Ince-Yenilmez that confronts why, despite decades of climate science and international agreement, emissions keep rising and adaptation keeps falling short.
The book takes stock of where current approaches are failing — from the growing gap between wealthy and developing nations in access to climate finance and technology, to a health sector still unprepared for rising heat stress, air pollution, and vector-borne disease. It looks closely at how financial systems remain tied to fossil fuel investment even as green finance mechanisms emerge to redirect capital toward renewables, reforestation, and resilience.
A recurring theme is the disconnect between global climate models and local realities: the volume argues for research that draws more on social science, economics, and community-level knowledge, alongside stronger public climate literacy to counter misinformation and build broader participation. It closes with an assessment of international climate governance itself, identifying where implementation and accountability mechanisms continue to fall short.
Aimed at scholars, policymakers, and practitioners, Rewriting the Climate Agenda sets out a framework for closing the gap between climate knowledge and climate action.
