New Open Access Book: Transitioning to Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
MDPI Books is pleased to announce the publication of Transitioning to Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, an Open Access edited volume examining the role of political systems, governance, and institutional quality in sustainable development.
Edited by Rajendra Baikady, the book explores Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16) and its significance within the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda. It highlights how issues of peace, justice, and institutional strength intersect with development outcomes, marking a shift from earlier development frameworks that treated political dimensions as peripheral.
Following an introduction to SDG 16 and its interpretations, the volume focuses on selected thematic areas—including human security, corruption, and inclusivity—to illustrate both the challenges and opportunities associated with this goal. It also examines the actors involved in advancing SDG 16, including public institutions, international organizations, and the private sector, as well as the processes it initiates within national and international governance structures.
As part of MDPI’s Transitioning to Sustainability Open Access book series, the volume contributes to ongoing discussions on regional and global sustainable development across the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
