New Open Access Book: Antimicrobial Alternatives Against Resilient Oral Biofilms

14 January 2026

MDPI Books is pleased to announce the publication of Antimicrobial Alternatives Against Resilient Oral Biofilms, an Open Access edited volume that examines emerging strategies to address persistent microbial communities in the oral cavity.

Edited by Aida Meto, the book brings together contributions from researchers working across in vitro, ex vivo, and clinical settings. It explores alternative antimicrobial approaches aimed at overcoming the limitations of conventional treatments, particularly in the context of growing antimicrobial resistance.

Oral biofilms present a significant challenge in dental and medical practice due to their resistance to mechanical disruption, host immune responses, and commonly used antimicrobial agents. This volume provides experimental and clinical insights into novel compounds and therapeutic strategies targeting biofilm-associated bacteria and fungi.

By integrating laboratory-based evidence with clinical perspectives, the book offers a comprehensive overview of current research directions in oral biofilm management. It is intended as a resource for researchers and clinicians working in oral health, microbiology, and antimicrobial development.

The book is freely available to read and download here.
