About Lubricants

Aims

Lubricants (ISSN 2075-4442) publishes regular research papers, reviews, letters and communications covering all aspects of tribology, including the study and application of the principles of friction, lubrication and wear. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish experimental, theoretical and computational results in as much detail as possible so that results can be easily reproduced. There is no restriction on the length of the papers. The full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. There are, in addition, three unique features of this Journal:

  • Manuscripts regarding research proposals and research ideas are welcome
  • Electronic files and software regarding the full details of the calculation and experimental procedure, if unable to be published in a normal way, can be deposited as supplementary material
  • Manuscripts concerning summaries and surveys on research cooperation and projects (that are founded by national governments) to give information for a broad field of users

Scope

  • tribology
  • wear and frictional phenomena
  • lubrication
  • contact phenomena or surface characterization
  • chemical aspects of lubrication
  • new materials and their tribological behavior
  • surface physics and chemistry related to wear and friction
  • reduction of friction and wear
  • motor oils (engine oils);  gear oils; grease; powders (dry graphite, PTFE, Molybdenum disulfide, tungsten disulfide, etc.)
  • dry lubricants or solid lubricants
  • lubricants for artificial joints
  • anti-wear
  • friction modifiers
  • viscosity index improvers

Book Reviews

Authors and publishers are encouraged to send review copies of their recent related books to Dr. Shu-Kun Lin, MDPI Center, Kandererstrasse 25, CH-4057 Basel, Switzerland. Received books will be listed first as "Books Received", then offered to the scholarly community for preparing reviews.
