Clinical Research in Cancer

A section of Cancers (ISSN 2072-6694).

Section Information

Clinical Research in Cancer is a dedicated Section of the journal Cancers that publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed clinical investigations aimed at advancing the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and management of cancer in human populations. This Section encompasses a broad scope of clinical oncology research, including randomized and non-randomized controlled trials (Phases I–IV), prospective and retrospective observational studies, comparative effectiveness research, and registry-based or real-world evidence analyses.

The Section invites submissions addressing clinically significant questions across all tumor types and disease stages, with particular emphasis on the following:

  • Clinical trials evaluating novel therapeutic strategies—including targeted agents, immunotherapies, antibody–drug conjugates, and combination regimens—with rigorous assessment of efficacy, safety, tolerability, and biomarker-informed patient stratification;
  • Surgical oncology and perioperative research, including comparative effectiveness of open versus minimally invasive or robotic surgical approaches; validation of surgical quality metrics and standardized outcome measures; optimization of patient selection criteria; and integration of perioperative interventions—such as enhanced recovery pathways and multimodal supportive care—within multidisciplinary treatment frameworks;
  • Translational clinical research that bridges preclinical discovery to clinical application, particularly studies elucidating pharmacogenomic determinants of drug response, mechanisms of resistance, predictive and prognostic biomarkers, and frameworks for implementing precision oncology in diverse clinical settings;
  • Investigations identifying robust clinical, pathological, molecular, and imaging-based prognostic and predictive factors associated with survival, recurrence risk, treatment response, and resistance patterns.
