Metabolic Score for Insulin Resistance (METS-IR) and Circulating Cytokines in Older Persons: The Role of Gender and Body Mass Index
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
In the present paper entitled „Metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR) and circulating cytokines in older persons: the role of gender and body mass index” the Authors reported and commented the relationship between cytokines and IR, which should be interpreted in a gender-specific manner. The Authors have noticed the association between IL-15 and IR in all population, as well as EGF, Eotaxin and MCP-1 exclusively in older women. This very well written paper could help to define treatment interventions to reduce the risk of age-related metabolic disorder.

Reviewer 2 Report
This is an interesting study highlighting the association between the circulating cytokines and METS-IR in older people. Data presented are well structured with new findings regarding the levels and the role of cytokines in METS-IR in older people. It would be interesting to elaborate more the finding that the differences in the association between cytokines and IR was pointed out only in women. Is there any other studies with similar results
Author Response
Response: We really thank reviewer for comments. As kindly suggested we elaborate more the finding of gender differences in our revised version (lines 237-247). Thanks.
