This is a Reprint of the Special Issue Molecular Methods in Antibiotics Discovery that was published in
This Special Issue welcomed manuscripts that describe new compounds with antibiotic activity. Eleven papers were published, most of which describe novel compounds, including homopolymers, cyclic imides, antimicrobial peptides, nucleic acids, and derivatives of quinone, benzamidine, thiazole, and pyrazole. Two papers describe novel galenic formulations of titanate or silver nanoparticles, respectively, and one contribution describes repurposed drugs. While most of the contributions to this Special Issue describe compounds with antibacterial activity, two papers describe antimicrobial candidates that have both antibacterial and antifungal properties, and one paper describes compounds with antifungal activity.
