Stefan Zerbe
Biography
Prof. Dr. Stefan Zerbe is the head of the Working Group “Interdisciplinary Landscape Ecology” at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. He studied Biology in Würzburg and Stuttgart-Hohenheim, received his PhD and habilitation at the TU Berlin, and was the Chair for Geobotany and Landscape Ecology at the University of Greifswald and Vice-Rector for Research at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano from 2012 to 2016. His main research interests are restoration ecology and sustainable land use, bridging the natural with the social sciences. He has published more than 280 scientific papers and two textbooks on ecosystem restoration. In his teaching activities, he focuses on international and intercultural seminars, workshops and excursions. He has developed and established two international master’s programs on Landscape Ecology and Nature Conservation and the Environmental Management of Mountain Areas.
