About Vibration
Aims
Vibration (ISSN 2571-631X) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal focusing on new developments in the science, engineering, and applications of vibration and dynamic systems. It provides a rigorous forum for the publication of original research, reviews, and technical notes that advance the theoretical, numerical, experimental, and data-driven understanding of vibration-related phenomena across a broad range of disciplines. We are an online journal, and we seek to make full use of this by offering researchers a range of formats so that their research work can be reported in sufficient detail to facilitate replication, if needed.
Scope
The scope of Vibration encompasses, but is not limited to, the following research areas:
Fundamental Vibration and Dynamics
- Linear and nonlinear vibrations, including oscillations, resonances, internal resonances, bifurcations, multistability, chaos, and routes to chaos;
- Random, stochastic, and uncertainty-driven vibrations;
- Transient dynamics, impact, shock, instability phenomena, and frictional and constrained systems;
- Multibody dynamics;
- Nonlinear vibration systems.
Structural and Mechanical Dynamics
- Structural dynamics, modal analysis, and wave propagation in solids and structures;
- Rotor dynamics, rotating machinery, and turbomachinery vibrations;
- Dynamics of machinery and vehicles, mechanical systems, and coupled structural systems.
Fluid–Structure Interaction and Flow-Induced Vibration
- Flow-induced vibration and aeroelasticity;
- Fluid–structure interaction in engineering and natural systems;
- Coupled fluid–acoustic–structural dynamics.
Vibration Control, Mitigation, and Energy Utilization
- Vibration control, isolation, damping, and suppression;
- Passive and active vibration absorbers, nonlinear vibration absorbers, and vibration isolation technologies;
- Vibration-based energy harvesting, utilization, and nonlinear design strategies.
Vibration Measurement, Monitoring, and Diagnostics
- Vibration measurement techniques, instrumentation, and experimental methods;
- Signal processing and system identification for vibration analysis;
- Structural performance monitoring, condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, prognostics, and predictive maintenance.
Computational and Data-Driven Methods in Vibration
- Computational and numerical methods, including numerical modeling, model updating, reduced-order modeling, and high-performance simulations;
- Data-driven approaches, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and deep learning for vibration analysis, system identification, prognosis, and prediction.
Human, Biomechanical, and Interdisciplinary Vibrations
- Vibration serviceability: source, path, receiver nexus;
- Human and biomechanical vibrations, including whole-body vibration, hand–arm vibration, human–structure interaction, human perception to vibration, and bioacoustics;
- Interdisciplinary vibration problems involving mechanical, civil, aerospace, automotive, marine, and environmental engineering systems.
