16–19 July 2018, Lisbon, Portugal
19th International Symposium on Applications of Laser and Imaging Techniques to Fluid Mechanics

The laser is one of the remarkable inventions of the 20th century. It has proved to be the most innovative and useful tool for experiments in fluid mechanics. The technological developments in lasers, detectors, electronics, and computers have continued to be the source of new laser techniques, improved accuracy, higher spatial or temporal resolution, and new applications.

Over the past 34 years, The International Symposia on Applications of Laser and Imaging Techniques to Fluid Mechanics, often referred to simply as the LISBON SYMPOSIA, have persistently provided a forum to promote the interchange of new ideas about the development of advanced techniques for flow measurement and on the latest applications in the field. More recently, the intertwining of imaging devices and image acquisition techniques have been central to the continuous development of time-resolved laser imaging techniques that permit the accurate measurement of whole, instantaneous fields and vectors.
