Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Excellent job articulating such eclectic information on NAFLD NASH from a nutrition point of view.

Summarized tables have been excellent for this review. It will be appreciated to show a schematics (Figure 1) in a better manner. The schematic would be informative if authors can show which stage (Hit of 2 hit hypothesis) a particular nutrient contributes positively or negatively.

Author Response

Point 1: The schematic would be informative if authors can show which stage (Hit of 2 hit hypothesis) a particular nutrient contributes positively or negatively.

Response 1. Thank you for your observations. We do not mention stages or “hits” due to the variable progression of NAFLD regarding multiple events acting in parallel. Certainly, nutrients have different contributions in NAFLD pathophysiology. Following the Reviewer’s comment we have made some changes in the caption of Figure 1 (attached Word file) to facilitate the readers’ comprehension.

Reviewer 2 Report

In this manuscript, Carolina Perdomo and the co-authors summarized evidence regarding the impact of changes in nutrition on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Since there is no drug available to treat NAFLD specifically, dietary interventions are the practical ways to improve patient’s outcomes of this disease. The authors discussed this issue respectively in lifestyle, diet composition, and dietary patterns. In general, the manuscript and figures are logically organized and well written in English.

The authors may need some additional effort to correct the minor mistakes in grammar before having a manuscript ready for publication. I listed some of them as follows:   Line 156, “independent of weight loss and energy intake,” should be “being independent of”. Line 200, “independently from” should be “independently of”.

Response 1. Thank you for your observations. We have carefully gone through the manuscript in order to correct the listed grammar mistakes. Additionally, we reviewed the whole manuscript searching for other grammar mistakes, which have been corrected in the revised version of our manuscript (see attached Word file).
