Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Authors have done good work in remarkable areas. However, it requires minor changes as per the following information.

  1. Make it understandable with different colors in Figure 3. Study framework showing two stages.
  2. This study aims to develop a method that can enhance and expedite the estimation of rice crop damage. Why rice crop alone?
  3. Why author have used different reference format? “Rotairo et al. (2019) stated that many developing Asian and Pacific economies rely on administrative reporting systems to gather data on agricultural production and land use, primarily due to limited financial resources for conducting comprehensive agricultural surveys or censuses”.
  4. A conclusion may be included as a paragraph at the end of the literature survey.
  5. The following data looks very old. Check for the latest information. - The agricultural area of Candaba was reported to be approximately 148 17,000 hectares in 2015 [27].
  6. The study area and study framework which was taken by the author is appropriate.
  7. It is better to represent lat and long in Figure 1. Location of the 16 sites for UAV experiment in the Philippines and other figures too.
  8. Representation of figures and tables are good except figure 3.
  9. Why in 3 or 4 places having more damages as per Figure 5. Rice crop damages in terms of affected area (in hectares) in Barangays of Candaba, Pam-249 panga.?
  10. Discuss the advantages and limitations of using open-source satellite data and UAV imagery for crop damage assessment compared to traditional methods. Highlight the potential cost-effectiveness and scalability of these approaches.
  11. Evaluate the accuracy and reliability of the proposed methodology in estimating rice crop damage. Discuss any limitations or challenges encountered during the data collection and analysis process.
  12. Conclusion have analytical information. It has four paragraph. Try to make two without compromising data interpretations. Future direction has been given. However, more details may be included to have better understanding.
  13. Discuss the limitations of the study, including any constraints related to data availability, processing capabilities, or environmental factors. Addressing these limitations provides context for interpreting the results and suggests avenues for future research.
  14. Relevant references are taken from the standard journals and some are latest one. It is fine.

The paper generally presents a good analysis of the subject using qualitative data sets and an appropriate methodology. I’ve made some specific comments in the section below. My recommendation is that the manuscript will be accepted with minor revisions.

Line 60 Rotairo et al. (2019) the citation should have a number

I recommend improving some figures. The lines that limit the studied area are not visible.

One aspect of meteorology is not very clear. Did you only use S1 data if S2 was not available due to cloud cover? In the results section, the damage estimate using S1 appears. Please clarify this.
