Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

General

I recommend to always use a space to separate a value from its unit. This is sometimes used in the text, sometimes not (e.g. line 88: 51 %, and line 89: 144%). Please correct and be consistent thoroughout the paper.

I found some writing errors at lines 242, 254, 257. Please correct.

Detail

203 constraint (14) should be numbered differently to avoid confusion with line 198; symbol m (italics) not in the list of variables at line 362

204 reference to constraint (24) must be wrong

249 a 30 cm boom height at 10 km/h with a 20 m boom could be a problem on rough ground

249 I fail to see why the F110 nozzle is best. Do you mean that, when drift reduction is not needed, F110 would be preferred to LD110 because of better coverage, i.e. droplet density?

251-253 no overlapping might be suited for spraying plants in rows, but only if the row distance equals the nozzle spacing

362 I believe that the unit of A is m (metre), but I find “(multiples of attachment spacing: ?=?×? where ?=1,2,…)” confusing; what is m?

Reviewer 2 Report

As an agricultural and pesticide specialist, I am not an expert for mathematical models. Nevertheless, I found this article understandably written. It provides the interesting approach to the pesticide application (especially drift) problems, so I recommend this paper for publishing in this exact form.
