In this review article, the author summarized the results of sphingolipidomics in biofluids of patients with neurodegenerative diseases, and reported that a common finding in several studies was an increase in ceramide d18:1/16:0, the implication of which was discussed in detail. I think that the manuscript is well organized and very informative, and should be worth publishing in “International Journal of Molecular Sciences” with minor modifications.

 

[Specific comments]

#1. (page 2, line 50; page 13, line 342; page 14, line 413) to a lesser “extend” should be “extent”.

#2. (page 6, line 138) clarified “throught out” the review should be “throughout”.

#3. (page 6, line 150) two “mayor” classes of SL should be “major”.
