Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue on "Alternative Fuel Combustion Processes, Characteristics and Reaction Kinetics" aims to explore the latest advancements in the utilization of alternative fuels for combustion processes. With the growing concerns about environmental sustainability and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, alternative fuels have gained significant attention as viable alternatives to conventional fossil fuels.

This Special Issue will serve as a platform for researchers, scientists, and engineers to share their insights, innovative approaches, and cutting-edge research findings related to alternative fuel combustion. The primary focus will be on understanding the combustion processes, investigating the fuel characteristics, and exploring the reaction kinetics associated with alternative fuels.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  1. Experimental and computational studies on the combustion performance of alternative fuels, such as biomass, hydrogen, ammonia, and metal powder.
  2. Advanced experimental techniques and their appications for alternative fuel combustion processes, such as in situ optical disgnostics for flames.
  3. Characterization of physical and chemical properties of alternative fuels, such as laminar burning velocity, iginition delay times, and speciation information in various fundamental combustion systems.
  4. Experimental, theoretical, and empirical determination of rate constants for dominant reactions of alternative fuel combustion processes, especially with statistical analysis and uncertainty quantifications.
  5. Validation, development, optimization, or reduction of reaction mechanisms of alternative fuels.
  6. Comparative analysis of alternative fuels with regard to combustion efficiency and environmental impact, especially based on reaction kinetic understanding.

We invite researchers from academia, industry, and government institutions to contribute their original research articles, reviews, and case studies to this Special Issue. It is anticipated that this collection of articles will provide valuable insights and contribute to the ongoing efforts in advancing the utilization of alternative fuels in combustion systems.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
