Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Chemical process optimization and integration, which are two of the major paradigms in Process Systems Engineering, play critical roles in various facets of chemical process designs and operations. These different tasks are optimized by considering the inevitable trade-offs between performance and cost. Simultaneously, many integration potentials may be identified and synergized in any given manufacturing facility to minimize the consumption of energy, raw materials, and natural resources, and also to significantly reduce harmful environmental impacts. Many researchers have already been utilizing crafty optimization and integration strategies on numerous applications.

This Special Issue on "Recent Advances in Chemical Process Optimization and Integration" welcomes the state-of-the-art contributions to further enhance all aspects of the above-mentioned research fields so as to render future chemical and other related industries sustainable and environmentally friendly. This Special Issue will try to accept only high-quality original papers on literature reviews, solution methods, and applications that address industrial needs. Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following items:

  • Chemical, refinery, and petrochemical processes;
  • Food and pharmaceutical processes;
  • Biorefinery, renewables, and clean energy;
  • Process synthesis, design, retrofit, and intensification;
  • Heat integration and energy savings;
  • Water integration and wastewater management;
  • Integrated application of new techniques into process optimization and integration.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
