Geological storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) in deep-sea formations represents a pivotal strategy for mitigating atmospheric CO2 levels, where storage security and efficacy are fundamentally governed by the pore-scale seepage behavior of CO2. However, the microscopic displacement mechanisms of CO2–water two-phase flow under the characteristic high-pressure, low-temperature conditions of the deep sea remain inadequately understood. This study employed a self-developed high-pressure microfluidic experimental platform (0–30 MPa, 4–50 °C) to systematically investigate the CO2 displacement process in porous media. The effects of injection rate (0.001–5 mL/min) and system pressure (1, 5, and 10 MPa) on displacement patterns, front stability, and final saturation were quantified. The results demonstrate that injection rate is the primary controller of displacement stability: high rates (≥0.1 mL/min) induce viscous fingering and lower final saturation, whereas low rates (≤0.05 mL/min) promote stable, piston-like displacement. Crucially, elevated pressure exerts a profound stabilizing effect, effectively suppressing fingering instabilities and enhancing final gas saturation (up to 0.544 at 10 MPa). This work elucidates the synergistic regulatory mechanism between injection rate and confining pressure, providing essential pore-scale experimental evidence for optimizing injection parameters to achieve efficient and secure CO2 storage in deep-sea reservoirs. Clarifying how ecosystem services (ESs) change over time and space, and how their trade-offs and synergies evolve, is essential for regional ecological protection and high-quality development. Using Shandong Province as a case study, this research quantified carbon storage (CS), water yield (WY), soil conservation (SC), and habitat quality (HQ) with the InVEST model. GeoDetector, geographically weighted regression (GWR), XGBoost-SHAP, Spearman’s rank correlation, bivariate spatial autocorrelation, and spatial overlay analysis were then combined to examine ES patterns, driving mechanisms, and interaction relationships. The main findings are as follows. (1) During 2000–2020, the most evident land-use changes occurred in cropland, grassland, built-up land, and water bodies. (2) The dominant drivers varied markedly among services: CS and HQ were mainly shaped by land-use type and human activity, WY was chiefly controlled by precipitation, and SC was most sensitive to topographic conditions. Factor interactions were generally stronger than single-factor effects, with two-factor enhancement being the prevailing interaction type. (3) ES trade-off/synergy relationships were relatively stable through time. A strong synergy persisted between CS and HQ, whereas CS and SC exhibited a moderate synergistic relationship. By contrast, WY showed evident trade-offs with both HQ and CS, with the WY–HQ trade-off being particularly pronounced. (4) Spatial overlay results showed that the overall ES synergy level remained low. Low-synergy areas accounted for 69.23–70.94% of the study area across the study period. Although strong-trade-off areas expanded overall, high-synergy areas remained limited, indicating considerable room to improve the coordinated provision of ESs in Shandong Province. Full article

Pile-supported geosynthetic-reinforced embankments, as effective foundation improvements, are being used increasingly often in the construction of highway and railway engineering at present. The geosynthetic-reinforced load transfer platform in the horizontal direction was simulated to the thin plate, and then the differential equation of the curved surface and the nonlinear foundation model were used to solve the analytical expression of the post-construction settlement of the reinforced area, and the engineering example was used to verify it. Furthermore, a finite element model was developed to simulate the settlement. The analysis utilized a static general step and incorporated a linear elastic–perfectly plastic model with the Mohr–Coulomb failure criterion. The numerical result of 19.7 mm was consistent with the theoretical prediction of 20.1 mm, demonstrating a mere 2.0% relative error and substantiating the validity and accuracy of the theoretical model. The analysis examined how bending stiffness, the subgrade reaction coefficient, pile spacing, and embankment height affect post-construction settlement. The results demonstrate that the settlement increases with larger pile spacings or lower values of the subgrade reaction coefficient and bending stiffness. Notably, the settlement increases with embankment height only until a critical height—calculated from the bearing capacity of the inter-pile soil—is exceeded. Based on this, it was found that the subgrade reaction coefficient was identified as the most influential parameter, followed by pile spacing and then bending stiffness. These findings lead to practical recommendations for engineering practice. Full article

The EPC model is currently the mainstream implementation approach for landscape projects, but fragmented management of the design–construction interface constrains project performance. Addressing issues such as cost overruns and schedule delays caused by ambiguous responsibility allocation, inefficient information transfer, and frequent design changes in EPC landscape projects, this paper focuses on the Xiaoyalong Wetland Park project in Kashi, Xinjiang, as a core case study. Combined with research on 12 representative projects, it identifies 16 interface management factors across four dimensions: contract management, organizational coordination, technical support, and ecological–artistic integration. Employing a mixed-methods approach combining questionnaire surveys (186 valid samples) and semi-structured interviews, validated through SPSS and structural equation modeling, this study confirms that early collaborative design serves as a core driver. Based on empirical findings, it derives and proposes a three-tiered optimization strategy: “foundation at the root layer, coordination at the transition layer, and assurance at the direct layer”. Pilot application of this strategy demonstrated significant effectiveness, reducing design change rates by 32%, shortening coordination time by 28%, and lowering cost overrun rates by 15%. This study enriches the theoretical framework of interface management in landscape engineering EPC projects and provides practical guidance for similar projects in arid regions. Full article

The remarkable properties of magnetic nanostructures have sparked considerable interest within the biomedical domain, owing to their potential for diverse applications. In targeted drug delivery systems, therapeutic molecules can be loaded onto magnetic nanocarriers and precisely guided and released within the body with the assistance of an externally applied magnetic field. However, conventional external magnetic fields generated by permanent magnets or electromagnets are limited by finite magnetic field gradients, shallow penetration depths, and low precision. The novel structured light field known as the Airy light-sheet possesses unique characteristics such as non-diffraction, self-healing, and self-acceleration, which can potentially overcome the limitations of traditional magnetic fields to some extent. While existing studies have primarily focused on the manipulation of dielectric particles by Airy light-sheet, comprehensive analyses exploring the intricate interplay between Airy light-sheet and magnetic nanostructures are currently lacking in the literature, with only preliminary theoretical discussions available. This study systematically explores the mechanical response of magnetic spherical particles under the influence of Airy light-sheet, including radiation forces and spin torques. Furthermore, we provide an in-depth analysis of the effects of particle size, permittivity, permeability, and incident light-sheet parameters on the mechanical effects. Our research findings not only offer new theoretical guidance and practical references for the application of magnetic nanoparticles in biomedicine but also provide valuable insights for the manipulation of other types of micro/nanoparticles using structured light fields. Herein, we report a ratio-based electrochemical biosensor for the detection of interleukin-6 (IL-6). We electropolymerized methylene blue (MB) on the surface of screen-printed carbon electrodes; introduced an internal reference signal probe; modified the carboxylate multi-walled carbon nanotubes on the electrode surface to increase the electrochemically active area; and finally linked the amino-modified IL-6 aptamer to the electrode surface through the Schiff base reaction, with bovine serum albumin (BSA) added to mask non-specific adsorption. After adding IL-6 to the samples, the signal of IMB remained almost unchanged, while the signal of I[Fe(CN)6]3−/4− decreased with increasing IL-6 concentration. Thus, a novel ratiometric electrochemical sensor with a linear range of 0.001~1000.0 ng/mL and a low detection limit of 0.54 pg/mL was successfully developed. The sensor had high repeatability, stability, sensitivity, and practicability. It provides a new method for constructing proportional electrochemical sensors and detecting IL-6. Full article

A novel terahertz polarization isolator using a two-dimensional square lattice tellurium rod array is numerically investigated at the interesting band of 0.22 THz in this short paper. The isolator is designed by inserting six hexagonal tellurium rods into a fully polarized photonic crystals waveguide with high efficiency of −0.34 dB. The TE and TM photonic band gaps of the 7 × 16 tellurium photonic crystals are computed based on the plane wave expansion method, which happen to coincide at the normalized frequency domain from 0.3859(a/λ) to 0.4033(a/λ), corresponding to the frequency domain from 0.2152 to 0.2249 THz. The operating bandwidth of the tellurium photonic crystals waveguide covers 0.2146 to 0.2247 THz, calculated by the finite element method. The six hexagonal tellurium rods with smaller circumradii of 0.16a serve to isolate transverse electric waves and turn a blind eye to transverse magnetic waves. The polarization isolation function and external characteristic curves of the envisaged structure are numerically simulated, which achieves the highest isolation of −33.49 dB at the central frequency of 0.2104 THz and the maximum reflection efficiency of 98.95 percent at the frequency of 0.2141 THz. The designed isolator with a unique function and high performance provides a promising approach for implementing fully polarized THz devices for future 6G communication systems. Full article

This study presents an approach using multiple linear regression to quantify the impact of meteorological parameters and chemical species on aerosol pH variance in an urban setting in the Pearl River Delta, China. Additionally, it assesses the contributions of interactions among these factors to the variance in pH. The analysis successfully explains over 96% of the pH variance, attributing 85.8% to the original variables and 6.7% to bivariate interactions, with further contributions of 2.3% and 1.0% from trivariate and quadrivariate interactions, respectively. Our results highlight that meteorological factors, particularly temperature and humidity, are more influential than chemical components in affecting aerosol pH variance. Temperature alone accounts for 37.3% of the variance, while humidity contributes approximately 20%. On the chemical front, sulfate and ammonium are the most significant contributors, adding 14.3% and 9.1% to the pH variance, respectively. In the realm of bivariate interactions, the interplay between meteorological parameters and chemical components, especially the TNO3–RH pair, is exceptionally impactful, constituting 58.1% of the total contribution from interactions. In summary, this study illuminates the factors affecting aerosol pH variance and their interplay, suggesting the integration of statistical methods with thermodynamic models for enhanced understanding of aerosol acidity dynamics in the future. The site selection of hydraulic structures is crucial to the successful implementation of water conservancy projects. Reasonable or not, site selection has a direct impact on the functioning of hydraulic structures, engineering safety, and environmental impact. In this paper, the proposed Wanfu River Guanqiao Ship Lock and Pumping Station engineering is utilised as the object. The MIKE model is executed to simulate both the impact of Guanqiao Ship Lock operation on the water quality of the pumping station intake as well as the effects of pumping station operation on the navigable water level in order to analyse and demonstrate the reasonableness of the pumping station’s location. According to the water quality monitoring data of the last three years, the entropy weight method coupled with the comprehensive pollution index method was used to evaluate the water quality of the Wanfu River. A one-dimensional hydrodynamic water quality model was constructed by applying MIKE11, which reveals the change rule of water quality and also demonstrates the safety of navigable water levels. The MIKE21 two-dimensional water quality model, which intuitively displays the spatial and temporal patterns of change of each indicator, was constructed. The results show the following: (1) The evaluation results of the entropy weight method coupled with the comprehensive pollution index method indicate that the water quality of the Wanfu River is Class III, which meets the water intake standard. (2) Concentrations of the indicators are higher in the abundant water period than in the dry water period, in which the water quality is Class IV in June and July. (3) There is no impact of the pump station operating on navigable water levels. Full article

Significant amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus in sediments will be released into the overlying water during the flood season in the water level fluctuation zone (WLFZ) of reservoirs that undergo periodic drying and flooding. This will result in water quality deterioration of the reservoir. In order to clarify the distribution characteristics and release behavior of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) from sediments in the WLFZ of a reservoir, this study analyzed the sediment distribution characteristics and potential exchange flux sediment–water interface(SWI) through field investigations and sediment core incubation experiments. And the main factors affecting the release of N and P through the incubation experiments in sediments of the WLFZ in the reservoir were determined. Our findings indicated that the sediment in the WLFZ serves as the primary source of NH4+-N and acts as a sink for NO2-N in the overlying water of sediment. The concentration of NH4+-N in the interstitial water of sediments is the key factor that affects the water quality of Biliuhe Reservoir. Total nitrogen content of surface sediments in the WLFZ of Biliuhe Reservoir ranges from 1052.52 ± 49.39 to 3520.54 ± 30.31 mg/kg. High concentrations of N pollution are the primary increased risk of eutrophication in Biliuhe Reservoir during summer. The sediment N and P release flux of BLH1 located in the main stream is 1.67 ± 1.06 and 12.32 ± 2.42 mg·(m2·d)−1, respectively, which is smaller than that of BLH2 (3.27 ± 2.15 and 15.19 ± 2.36 mg·(m2·d)−1, respectively), BLH3 (4.24 ± 1.74 and 17.02 ± 2.47 mg·(m2·d)−1, respectively) and BLH4 (7.78 ± 2.03 and 20.56 ± 2.38 mg·(m2·d)−1, respectively) located in the tributary. It indicates that the water conveyance project located in BLH1 has an impact on nutrient scouring of sediments in the WLFZ at this site. The main water environment factor affecting the release of N and P in the sediment of the WLFZ is dissolved oxygen (DO). And the Pearson correlation coefficients between TN and TP with DO were −0.838 and −0.777, respectively (p < 0.05). At the same time, the diffusion of nutrients in the sediments can be effectively inhibited by maintaining a certain DO concentration in the overlying water. Full article

Lead-based halide perovskite semiconductors have demonstrated considerable potential in optoelectronic applications. However, the lack of high-quality crystals suitable for research has led to rare reports on CsPbF3 single crystals. Good quality CsPbF3 single crystals were successfully grown using the Bridgman method. The structure, luminescence, and electrical properties of crystals were investigated. At room temperature, the crystal structure was determined to be cubic perovskite, with a calculated bandgap of 3.68 eV. The measured emission spectrum showed one broad emission peak at approximately 400 nm. Three decay time constants were obtained from a sum of exponential functions fit to the fluorescence decay curve: 0.4 ns, 2.4 ns, and 15.0 ns for fast, middle, and slow decay times, respectively. The decay times excited by pulsed X-ray were measured to be 2.2 ns and 10.2 ns, indicating that CsPbF3 is an ultrafast scintillator. Furthermore, the electrical properties demonstrated that CsPbF3 exhibits high ion mobility, which is approximately 20 times that of electron mobility. Full article

(1) Background: the indications for transcatheter closure of large patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) with severe pulmonary hypertension (PH) are still unclear, and scholars have not fully elucidated the factors that affect PH prognosis. (2) Methods: we retrospectively enrolled 134 consecutive patients with a PDA diameter ≥10 mm or a ratio of PDA and aortic >0.5. We collected clinical data to explore the factors affecting follow-up PH. (3) Results: 134 patients (mean age 35.04 ± 10.23 years; 98 women) successfully underwent a transcatheter closure, and all patients had a mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) >50 mmHg. Five procedures were deemed to have failed because their mPAP did not decrease, and the patients experienced uncomfortable symptoms after the trial occlusion. The average occluder (pulmonary end) size was almost twice the PDA diameter (22.33 ± 4.81 mm vs. 11.69 ± 2.18 mm). Left ventricular end-diastolic dimension (LVEDD), mPAP, and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) significantly reduced after the occlusion, and LVEF recovered during the follow-up period. In total, 42 of the 78 patients with total pulmonary resistance >4 Wood Units experienced clinical outcomes, and all of them had PH in the follow-up, while 10 of them had heart failure, and 4 were hospitalized again because of PH. The results of a logistic regression analysis revealed that the postoperative mPAP had an independent risk factor (odds ratio = 1.069, 95% confidence interval: 1.003 to 1.140, p = 0.040) with a receiver operating characteristic curve cut-off value of 35.5 mmHg (p < 0.001). (4) Conclusions: performing a transcatheter closure of large patent ductus arteriosus is feasible, and postoperative mPAP was a risk factor that affected the follow-up PH. Patients with a postoperative mPAP >35.5 mmHg should be considered for targeted medical therapy or should undergo right heart catheterization again after the occlusion. Full article

The newly collected seismic data and the existing drilling data provide a good opportunity to better understand the carbonate platform distribution characteristics and the hydrocarbon resource potential in the Xisha sea area of the South China Sea. Based on the seismic data and the reflection characteristics of the carbonate platform’s edge, three boundary indicators were established: abrupt lithological interfaces, fault interfaces, and tidal channels. Combined with the regional geological settings, its spatial and temporal distribution was clearly identified for the first time. The development of the Miocene carbonate platform in the Xisha sea area is divided into six phases, which are further assigned to three evolutionary stages: the bloom stage, the recession stage, and the submerged stage. The sedimentary facies belt of the carbonate platform in each stage is well developed, and the reefs are mainly distributed on the west and southwest edges of the platform. The analysis of the data indicates that the area of the reef and carbonate platform reached 80,000 km2 during the mature period, followed by a retreat period where the scale decreased with the platform’s decline. The Miocene carbonate rocks in the Xisha sea area are widely distributed. They have experienced multiple periods of exposure and infiltration, which further improved the quality of their physical properties for hydrocarbon reservoirs. According to the regional hydrocarbon geological conditions in this area—including the source rock, migration system and the capping layer—the hydrocarbon accumulation potential is preliminarily discussed in this paper. A reservoir model of the reef and carbonate platform is established, which is proposed as typical characteristics of “lower generation, upper accumulation”. It is pointed out that the carbonate platform in the Xisha sea area adjacent to the Huaguang Sag in the Qiongdongnan Basin and the northern Zhongjiannan Basin is a potential area for oil and gas exploration. Rivers are beneficial to humans due to their multiple functions. However, human meddling substantially degrades the functions of rivers and constitutes a threat to river health. Therefore, it is vital to assess and maintain river function. This study used the Xiaoqing River in Shandong Province, China, as a case study and established a multilayered multifunctional river evaluation indicator system consisting of environmental function, ecological function, social function, and economic function. The weights of indicators were calculated using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the entropy method. Furthermore, a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model based on the Cauchy distribution function was developed to assess the operation status of each function in each river segment. The results of the indicator and criterion layers in different river sections varied. The multifunctionality of the river decreased from upstream to downstream. The Jinan section was the most multifunctional, followed by the Binzhou, Zibo, and Dongying sections, and finally the Weifang section. Through additional analysis, this study determined the constraint indicators and functions of each river section. Overall, the results reveal that the idea of a “multifunctional river” can advance the theoretical understanding of a river’s function, and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is demonstrated to provide fresh perspectives for evaluating river function.
