In recent years, deep learning-based methods for surface defect detection in steel strips have advanced rapidly. Nevertheless, existing approaches still face several challenges in practical applications, such as insufficient dimensionality of feature information, inadequate representation capability for single-modal samples, poor adaptability to few-shot scenarios, and difficulties in cross-domain knowledge transfer. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a multi-modal fusion framework based on graph neural networks for few-shot classification and detection of surface defects. The proposed architecture consists of three core components: a multi-modal feature fusion module, a graph neural network module, and a cross-modal transfer learning module. By integrating heterogeneous data modalities—including visual images and textual descriptions—the method facilitates the construction of a more efficient and accurate defect classification and detection model. Experimental evaluations on steel strip surface defect datasets confirm the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed method under small-sample conditions. The results demonstrate that our approach provides a novel and reliable solution for automated quality inspection of surface defects in the steel industry. Full article

Brassica napus L. is a vital oil crop and exhibits notable salt tolerance, making the enhancement of this trait crucial for cultivation in saline soils. Uncovering its underlying mechanism may further heighten the salt tolerance of B. napus. In this study, we conducted a genome-wide analysis of the Root Meristem Growth Factor (RGF) gene family in Brassica species and identified BnaRGF8 as a key regulator of salt tolerance. Under 200 mM NaCl treatment, all RGF genes were induced, with BnaRGF8 showing the greatest upregulation. This response was consistently observed across 10 genotypes, indicating a universal trend in B. napus. Functional characterization revealed that chemically synthesized BnaRGF8 alleviated salt-induced growth inhibition by restoring primary root elongation and lateral root formation. Additionally, BnaRGF8 preserved membrane integrity and maintained cell division under salt stress, establishing itself as a novel anti-salt peptide in B. napus. Full article

Background: As the global population ages, the prevalence of neurodegenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), dementia with Lewy bodies, and frontotemporal dementia, continues to rise. Understanding the impact of aging on striatal glucose metabolism is pivotal in identifying potential biomarkers for the early detection of these disorders. Methods: We investigated age-related changes in striatal glucose metabolism using both region of interest (ROI)-based and voxel-wise correlation analyses. Additionally, we employed a normative modeling approach to establish age-related metabolic trajectories and assess individual deviations from these normative patterns. In vivo cerebral glucose metabolism was quantified using a molecular neuroimaging technique, 18F-FDG PET. Results: Our results revealed significant negative correlations between age and glucose metabolism in the bilateral caudate. Furthermore, the normative modeling demonstrated a clear, progressive decline in caudate metabolism with advancing age, and the most pronounced reductions were observed in older individuals. Conclusions: These findings suggest that metabolic reductions in the caudate may serve as a sensitive biomarker for normal aging and offer valuable insights into the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases. Moreover, by establishing age-specific reference values for caudate glucose metabolism, the normative model provides a framework for detecting deviations from expected metabolic patterns, which may facilitate the early identification of metabolic alterations that could precede clinical symptoms of neurodegenerative processes. Background: The cashmere goat is a biological resource that mainly produces cashmere. Cashmere has a soft hand feel and good luster, with high economic value. The quality and yield of cashmere are determined by the process of hair follicle development during the embryonic period. Methods: In this study, the skin of the Inner Mongolia cashmere goat at different embryonic stages (45, 55, 65, and 75d) was collected, and the differentially expressed lncRNA MSTRG.20890.1 at 75d was obtained by screening. Dual luciferase reporter gene system, qRT-PCR, and EDU experiments were used to verify further the regulatory role and molecular mechanism of the lncRNA in dermal fibroblasts. Results: Based on the transcriptome database of Inner Mongolia cashmere goat skin at different embryonic stages, which was previously constructed by our group, according to the characteristics of hair follicle development in the embryonic stage, we screened out the lncRNA MSTRG.20890.1 that was down-expressed on the 75-SHFINI day of the embryonic stage. We found that lncRNA MSTRG.20890.1 was mainly located in the cytoplasm of cells, and it could inhibit the proliferation and directional migration of dermal fibroblasts through the chi-miR-24-3p/ADAMTS3 signaling axis, thereby inhibiting the formation of dermal papilla structure at embryonic stage. Conclusions: This study revealed that lncRNA MSTRG.20890.1 regulated secondary hair follicle morphogenesis and development in cashmere goats through the chi-miR-24-3p/ADAMTS3 signaling axis. The light-sensitive albino tea plant can produce pale-yellow shoots with high levels of amino acids which are suitable to process high-quality tea. In order to understand the mechanism of the albino phenotype formation, the changes in the physio-chemical characteristics, chloroplast ultrastructure, chlorophyll-binding proteins, and the relevant gene expression were comprehensively investigated in the leaves of the light-sensitive albino cultivar ‘Huangjinya’ (‘HJY’) during short-term shading treatment. In the content of photosynthetic pigments, the ultrastructure of the chloroplast, and parameters of the photosynthesis in the leaves of ‘HJY’ could be gradually normalized along with the extension of the shading time, resulting in the leaf color transformed from pale yellow to green. BN-PAGE and SDS-PAGE revealed that function restoration of the photosynthetic apparatus was attributed to the proper formation of the pigment-protein complexes on the thylakoid membrane that benefited from the increased levels of the LHCII subunits in the shaded leaves of ‘HJY’, indicating the low level of LHCII subunits, especially the lack of the Lhcb1 might be responsible for the albino phenotype of the ‘HJY’ under natural light condition. The deficiency of the Lhcb1 was mainly subject to the strongly suppressed expression of the Lhcb1.x which might be modulated by the chloroplast retrograde signaling pathway GUN1 (GENOMES UNCOUPLED 1)-PTM (PHD type transcription factor with transmembrane domains)-ABI4 (ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE 4). In this paper, a new SiGe/Si heterojunction double-gate heterogate dielectric tunneling field-effect transistor with an auxiliary tunneling barrier layer (HJ-HD-P-DGTFET) is proposed and investigated using TCAD tools. SiGe material has a smaller band gap than Si, so a heterojunction with SiGe(source)/Si(channel) can result in a smaller tunneling distance, which is very helpful in boosting the tunneling rate. The gate dielectric near the drain region consists of low-k SiO2 to weaken the gate control of the channel-drain tunneling junction and reduce the ambipolar current (Iamb). In contrast, the gate dielectric near the source region consists of high-k HfO2 to increase the on-state current (Ion) through the method of gate control. To further increase Ion, an n+-doped auxiliary tunneling barrier layer (pocket)is used to reduce the tunneling distance. Therefore, the proposed HJ-HD-P-DGTFET can obtain a higher on-state current and suppressed ambipolar effect. The simulation results show that a large Ion of 7.79 × 10−5 A/μm, a suppressed Ioff of 8.16 × 10−18 A/μm, minimum subthreshold swing (SSmin) of 19 mV/dec, a cutoff frequency (fT) of 19.95 GHz, and gain bandwidth product (GBW) of 2.07 GHz can be achieved. The data indicate that HJ-HD-P-DGTFET is a promising device for low-power-consumption radio frequency applications. Full article

This study examined the preparation of isobornyl acetate/isoborneol from camphene using an α-hydroxyl carboxylic acid (HCA) composite catalyst. Through the study of the influencing factors, it was found that HCA and boric acid exhibited significant synergistic catalysis. Under optimal conditions, when tartaric acid–boric acid was used as the catalyst, the conversion of camphene and the gas chromatography (GC) content and selectivity of isobornyl acetate were 92.9%, 88.5%, and 95.3%, respectively. With the increase in the ratio of water to acetic acid, the GC content and selectivity of isobornol in the product increased, but the conversion of camphene decreased. The yield of isobornol was increased by adding ethyl acetate or titanium sulfate/zirconium sulfate to form a ternary composite catalyst. When a ternary complex of titanium sulfate, tartaric acid, and boric acid was used as the catalyst, the GC content of isobornol in the product reached 55.6%. Under solvent-free conditions, mandelic acid–boric acid could catalyze the hydration reaction of camphene, the GC content of isoborneol in the product reached 26.1%, and the selectivity of isoborneol was 55.9%. The HCA–boric acid composite catalyst can use aqueous acetic acid as a raw material, which is also beneficial for the reuse of the catalyst. Full article

Viscoelastic dampers are conventional passive vibration control devices with excellent energy dissipation performance. The fractional derivative has a simple form and high accuracy in the modelling of viscoelastic materials/dampers. The internal variables reflect the internal state evolution of materials, and are often used to analyze the deformation and thermal process of materials. In the present work, the mechanical properties of a plate-shear-type viscoelastic damper at room temperature are tested under sinusoidal displacement excitations. The impacts of frequency and displacement amplitude on the dynamic properties of the viscoelastic damper in a wide frequency domain (0.1–25 Hz) are investigated. The higher-order fractional derivative model and the temperature–frequency equivalent principle are employed to characterize the frequency and temperature influence, and the internal variable theory considering the internal/microscale structure evolutions is introduced to capture the displacement affection. The higher-order fractional derivative model modified with the internal variable theory and temperature–frequency equivalent principle (ITHF) is accurate enough in describing the dynamic behaviors of viscoelastic dampers with varying frequencies and displacement amplitudes. Huangqin is the dried root of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, which has been widely utilized for heat-clearing (Qingre) and dewetting (Zaoshi), heat-killed (Xiehuo) and detoxifying (Jiedu) in the concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is used for treating inflammation and cancer in clinical formulas. Neobaicalein (NEO) is of flavonoid isolated from Huangqin and has been reported to possess prominent anti-inflammatory effects in published work. Th17/Treg balance shift to Th17 cells is an essential reason for autoimmune inflammatory diseases. However, the role NEO plays in Th17 and Treg and the underlying mechanism has not been elucidated yet. Network pharmacology-based study revealed that NEO predominantly regulated IL-17 signaling pathway. Moreover, our result shown that NEO (3–30 μmol/L) down-regulated Th17 differentiation and cellular supernatant and intracellular IL-17A level and tumor necrosis factor α production in a concentration-dependent manner. The further mechanism research revealed that NEO also specifically inhibited phosphorylation of STAT3(Tyr725) and STAT4 (Y693) without influence on activation of STAT5 and STAT6 in splenocytes. Immunofluorescence results illuminated that NEO effectively blocked STAT3 translocated into nucleus. Interestingly, NEO at appreciated dose could only inhibit Th17 cell differentiation and have no effect on Treg differentiation. The present study revealed that NEO effectively inhibited Th17 cell differentiation through specifically blocking the activation of STAT3 signaling without inactivation of STAT5 and STAT6. Additional inhibitory effect on activation of STAT4 by NEO also suggested the potential for antagonism against Th1 differentiation. All work suggested that NEO may be a potential candidate for immunoregulation and treating autoimmune inflammatory diseases through inhibiting immune cell viability and T cell differentiation. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of liquid embolization agents for treating various hemorrhagic peripheral intracranial aneurysms. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 38 patients who suffered from hemorrhagic peripheral intracranial aneurysms and were treated with liquid embolization agents. We used the modified Rankin scale for follow-up at 6 months postoperatively, and digital subtraction angiography follow-up was performed 6 months postoperatively. Results: Of the 38 patients (ten of simple peripheral intracranial aneurysms, six of Moyamoya disease (MMD), and 22 of arteriovenous malformation (AVM)), posterior circulation accounted for the most significant proportion (57.9%), followed by anterior circulation (21.1%) and intranidal aneurysms (21.1%). Intraoperative hemorrhage occurred in four cases, postoperative cerebral infarction occurred in four cases, two patients encountered microcatheter retention, and intraoperative thrombosis took place in the basilar artery of a patient with an arteriovenous malformation. A postoperative hemorrhage occurred in only one patient. At 6-month follow-up, 84.2% of patients had good prognosis outcomes, and 13.5% had poor outcomes. Conclusion: Liquid embolization agents are effective for hemorrhagic peripheral intracranial aneurysms; however, safety depends on the subtypes. For peripheral hemorrhagic aneurysms in MMD, the vessel architecture must be carefully evaluated before embolization. Full article

This paper proposes a compact double-layer microstrip patch antenna with a wide bandwidth of 4.83–6.1 GHz and a gain reaching 4.7 dBi. By folding its mirror image through the electric field symmetry principle of the microstrip antenna, its electrical properties are maintained, and the physical size is halved to the compact size of only 25 × 40 mm2. The proposed antenna has the radiation characteristics of a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA), which can generate the first resonant frequency and realize omnidirectional radiation characteristics. By coupling and feeding the upper patch, the second resonant frequency of the proposed antenna is produced and the directional radiation characteristics of the microstrip patch antenna can be achieved. The consistency of the results between the simulation and test indicates that the proposed antenna design is an ideal potential choice for home wireless local area network (WLAN) communication. We aimed to examine the associations between cord blood lipids and childhood adiposity and to investigate whether these associations vary across birth weight categories (small for gestational age (SGA), appropriate for gestational age (AGA) and large for gestational age (LGA)) in 1306 infants in the Born in Guangzhou Cohort Study, China. Adiposity outcomes at the age of three years included z-scores of weight-for-length/height (WFLZ), body mass index (BMIZ), subscapular (SSTZ) and triceps skinfold thickness (TSTZ), and the sum of skinfold thicknesses (SSFTZ). Cord blood triglycerides (TG) levels were negatively associated with WFLZ and BMIZ, whereas high density lipoprotein (HDL) levels were positively associated with WFLZ, BMIZ, TSTZ and SSFTZ. These associations were attenuated after adjustment for birth weight. Stratified analyses revealed that total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels were positively associated with childhood adiposity indicators among AGA infants but tended to be negatively associated with the adiposity indicators among LGA infants (p values for interaction <0.05). Furthermore, TG levels appeared to be positively associated with adiposity indicators among SGA infants but negatively associated with the outcomes among LGA infants (p values for interaction <0.05). Cord blood lipids levels might be associated with childhood adiposity, and these associations appear to differ across different birth weight categories. If confirmed in future studies, our findings suggest that individualized management plans might be warranted in preventing obesity. Full article

Micro-opto-electromechanical systems (MOEMSs) are a new class of integrated and miniaturized optical systems that have significant applications in modern optics. However, the integration of micro-optical elements with complex morphologies on existing micro-electromechanical systems is difficult. Herein, we propose a femtosecond-laser-assisted dry etching technology to realize the fabrication of silicon microlenses. The size of the microlens can be controlled by the femtosecond laser pulse energy and the number of pulses. To verify the applicability of this method, multifocal microlens arrays (focal lengths of 7–9 μm) were integrated into a silicon microcantilever using this method. The proposed technology would broaden the application scope of MOEMSs in three-dimensional imaging systems. Full article

Plasma Sphingolipid Profile in Association with Incident Metabolic Syndrome in a Chinese Population-Based Cohort Study

Although bioactive sphingolipids have been shown to regulate cardiometabolic homeostasis and inflammatory signaling pathways in rodents, population-based longitudinal studies of relationships between sphingolipids and onset of metabolic syndrome (MetS) are sparse. We aimed to determine associations of circulating sphingolipids with inflammatory markers, adipokines, and incidence of MetS. Among 1242 Chinese people aged 50–70 years who completed the 6-year resurvey, 76 baseline plasma sphingolipids were quantified by high-throughput liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. There were 431 incident MetS cases at 6-year revisit. After multivariable adjustment including lifestyle characteristics and BMI, 21 sphingolipids mainly from ceramide and hydroxysphingomyelin subclasses were significantly associated with incident MetS. Meanwhile, the baseline ceramide score was positively associated (RRQ4 versus Q1 = 1.31; 95% CI 1.05, 1.63; ptrend = 0.010) and the hydroxysphingomyelin score was inversely associated (RRQ4 versus Q1 = 0.60; 95% CI 0.45, 0.79; ptrend < 0.001) with incident MetS. When further controlling for clinical lipids, both associations were attenuated but remained significant. Comparing extreme quartiles, RRs (95% CIs) of MetS risk were 1.34 (95% CI 1.06, 1.70; ptrend = 0.010) for ceramide score and 0.71 (95% CI 0.51, 0.97; ptrend = 0.018) for hydroxysphingomyelin score, respectively. Furthermore, a stronger association between ceramide score and incidence of MetS was evidenced in those having higher inflammation levels (RRQ4 versus Q1 1.57; 95% CI 1.16, 2.12; pinteraction = 0.004). Our data suggested that elevated ceramide concentrations were associated with a higher MetS risk, whereas raised hydroxysphingomyelin levels were associated with a lower MetS risk beyond traditional clinical lipids.
