Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This paper analyses how AI is being applied and adopted in the demand planning process. However, the analysis is not exactly sufficient. Their contributions are not clear.

Moreover, there are a lof writing errors and red sentences. It is difficult to understant them.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Title: The paper is entirely related to a management process, specifically demand investigation. Thus, I am of the opinion that the title can be changed to “Artificial Intelligence Capabilities for Demand Planning Process”.

Abstract: An abstract is a brief summary of a scientific paper that provides an overview of the research question, methods and results. Exploring Al's capability is mentioned as a result, but it appears too general. The author should give more specific details.

Ln.29 ; Ln 209 order works with dates in chronological order.

Ln. 108 demand planning process

Ln. 130 Use the past tense to report what happened in the past: what you did, what someone reported, what happened in an experiment, and so on. Use the present tense to express general truths, such as conclusions (drawn by you or by others) and atemporal facts (including information about what the paper does or covers). Thus, use “this study addresses” instead. Check the whole paper considering the above (e.g Ln. 138).

Ln. 343 Machine learning is a subset of AI. That is, all machine learning counts as AI, but not all AI counts as machine learning. So, use Artificial Intelligence (Al) and erase ML as an example.

Ln. 458. Discuss Table 1 properly in the text. The paper needs to support the result section by providing more explanation in the table about what the authors deduce.

Ln. 504. Mention if different sector selections yield more robust results for the study. Convince the readers.

Ln. 517. State if the chosen company for case A is international.

Ln. 549. Capitalize all words except articles (a, the), prepositions (from, to, through...), and coordinate conjunctions ( and, or...) in the Table.

Ln. 549. Explain why the interviewees were chosen from different passions and areas.

Give more detail about Figure 1 and check the capitalisation of the words there.

Figure 2 is not high-res and appropriately aligned.

Ln 694. The explanation of possible interactions between technology, humans, and organisations is missing. Spare a paragraph to indicate these.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The author introduced artificial intelligence capabilities for demand planning. However, i have some suggestions, like

1. The major contributions of the research is missing

2. The introduction part is weak; the author has to discuss some of the recent research works like; 10.1109/ICCCI56745.2023.10128646.

3. The tools and techniques identifications is missing in the article

4. The author has to discuss the merits and demerits of AI in demand planning.

Comments on the Quality of English Language

Moderate language correction is required

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The manuscript entitled “Artificial Intelligence Capabilities for Demand Planning” presents a timely and relevant topic within the context of today's business landscape, emphasizing the necessity for companies to embrace digital transformation, particularly through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.

Comments:

Scope and Objectives: The study's main objective, to analyze the application of AI in demand planning and identify the resources required for building AI capabilities, is well-defined and aligns with the current needs of businesses striving for competitiveness in a digital era. This clarity helps establish the study's relevance and significance within the field of operations management.

Methodology: Conducting a case study across three different companies to achieve the research objective demonstrates a practical approach to investigating AI's application in demand planning. However, the manuscript lacks specific details regarding the methodology employed, such as data collection techniques (sample survey questions), sample selection criteria and its validity, and analytical methods utilized i.e., measurable units. Providing brief insights into these aspects would enhance the manuscript.

Literature: The manuscript appropriately highlights the study's contributions, including extending the existing literature on AI's capabilities in demand planning and identifying essential resources for building AI models. Moreover, the emphasis on micro-level mechanisms and practices contributing to firms' adaptability and innovation through digital transformation adds depth to the research's significance.

Language and Structure: The manuscript is well-structured and concise, effectively communicating the study's purpose. The language used is clear and professional, enhancing readability and understanding.

Recommendations for Improvement:

Methodological Details: While this section provides a general overview of the research methodology, incorporating specific methodological details like sample survey questions, it’s preprocessing etc. would enhance transparency and enable readers to evaluate the study's accuracy and validity.

Practical Implications: Highlighting the practical implications of the study's findings for industry practitioners could further enhance the manuscript’s relevance and appeal to a broader audience interested in implementing AI in demand planning.
